THE BEVERLEY AND DISTRICT RINGING SOCIETY BELL REPAIR FUND CONSTITUTION
1. NAME
The Fund shall be known as the Beverley and District Ringing Society Bell Repair Fund.
2. OBJECT
The object of the Fund shall be to advance the Christian religion by providing financial assistance to the Churches in the Society's area for the purpose of maintaining and improving their bell installations by making grants to them. Maintaining and improving a bell installation shall be deemed to include the following:
(i) Taking out an existing ring of bells, supplying and installing a new frame and fittings, recasting the bells and erecting the same.
(ii) Taking out, overhauling and reclappering existing bells, supplying and installing a new frame and fittings and re-erecting the bells.
(iii) Taking out existing bells, overhauling existing frame and fittings, recasting or overhauling and reclappering same and re-erecting.
(iv) Augmentation of existing bells and bringing frame and fittings into an adequate state of repair.
(v) Other major repairs to bells, frame, fittings and towers.
(vi) The provision of bells, frames and fittings and erecting of same in Churches which previously had none.
(vii) The provision of or improvement to, the sound control fittings and equipment.
3. MANAGEMENT
(i) Governance
The fund shall be administered by three trustees appointed by the Society. The trustees shall have the power to invest or otherwise deal with all assets belonging to the bell repair fund. The trustees shall be responsible for ensuring that the fund is operated according to the purposes laid down in this constitution and for preparing reports and accounts as required by the Charity Commission.
(ii) Appointment of Trustees
A trustee shall be appointed by a majority vote of members present at an Annual General Meeting of the Beverley and District Ringing Society or Extraordinary General Meeting called for the purpose.
(iii) Grants
Authority to approve the payment of a grant is solely invested in the trustees. The trustees shall consider recommendations from the General Committee of the Beverley and District Ringing Society, together with such documentation as they may request from the General Committee and approve, amend or reject such recommendations at their absolute discretion.
4. EXAMINERS
The Trustees shall prepare a balance sheet as at 31st December in each year and an income and expenditure account for the year ended on that date, which shall be examined by two Examiners elected by the members of the Society at their Annual General Meeting. The accounts of the Fund shall be presented to the members at the Annual General Meeting of the Society held in the March following the 31st December to which the Fund's accounts are prepared.
5. DISSOLUTION
In the event of the dissolution of the Fund, the assets of the Fund shall be distributed equally among those Churches which, at the time of the dissolution, are in union with the Society, for the charitable and religious purposes of the said Churches.
6. ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION
No alteration, addition to or deletion from the Constitution shall be made so as to cause the Fund at any time to cease to be a Charity in law.
No alteration, addition to or deletion from the Constitution shall be made except at the Annual General Meeting of the Society or at an Extraordinary General Meeting called for the purpose. Notice of any proposed alteration, addition to or deletion from the Constitution shall be given to the Secretary of the Society at least three calendar months prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting or the Extraordinary General Meeting.
